- Churidaar kameez - The upper clothing worn by the woman can be short in length till the thighs or mid length till the knees or up till the ankles. It can be straight fit to a- line fit to frock style fit with or without the slit. The lower clothing is called the churidaar as it is sleek and fits to the legs with churis forming near the ankles. It is a traditional form that is reviving back but was never out of fashion. A person appears sleek and lean when one wears such clothing.
- Salwaar kameez - salwaars are loose dhoti style pants worn with a short to mid length to full length kurta. Almost available in all fabrics it comes with or without the dupatta. Usually when the kameez is of full length and of high neck with front buttons then the dupatta is avoided. Salwaars usually look good on lean women as it makes them look little hefty.
- The Patiala salwaar with kameez - the salwaar- cum Patiala is another kind of garment that is very comfortable. The Patiala takes lot of fabric. A full Patiala requires almost 4 meters of cloth with wrinkles all over the legs that are called as falls and is very loose. Then there is a half Patiala that is semi salwaar cum Patiala. Fall over the thighs with narrow hem over the ankles is another kind. Both short length and full length kameez looks good on the Patiala and one can do with or without the dupatta.
- Hipster pants with kameez - boot cut fit over cotton or salwaar fabric is another type of salwaar kameez that can be worn with long and short kammez with dupatta. Usually it is ideal for tall women as it enhances their personality. When worn with heels it adds up to their height and gives a slender look.
- The angrakha style and the anarkali style - This style is most in vogue. Such kind of salwaar suits were worn by the courtesans in earlier days. So this is a revival item from the past. The angrakha has an asymmetrical pattern with side strings attached and is flowy in kind and is worn with churidaar. Whereas the anarkali style is one that has lot of kalis broad to narrow from the chest region. The upper part is like a fitted blouse and from the midriff the anarkali begins in a flowy pattern. It is also worn with churidaar.
